Une séquence de dix photographies prise en 2012 au bord du Rhin, au passage de la péniche porte-conteneurs hollandaise Esperanto III, en plein centre de Cologne, au crépuscule.

Publiée dix ans après, elle résonne avec une actualité de l’été 2022 : la crise du transport de fret aggravée par la grande sécheresse,
les basses eaux du Rhin, comme d’autres voies fluviales en Europe, contraignant les péniches à circuler avec des cargaisons réduites,
de peur de toucher le fond.

A sequence of ten photographs taken in 2012, depicting Dutch inland container vessel Esperanto III navigating the Rhine river, in the very heart of the city of Cologne, at twilight.

Published ten years after, it echoes one of Summer 2022 news: freight transportation crisis was aggravated by the heavy drought. The low water levels of the Rhine river, as of other waterways in Europe, forced vessels to circulate with downsized loads, in fear of scouring the river bed.
